Job Description
Engineering Manager - Bridgwater, UK
About the Role
Hinkley Point C, Bridgwater, Hybrid minimum of 3 days a week onsite.
Are you a passionate Mechanical or Electrical Engineer looking to lead in one of the UK’s most ambitious infrastructure projects? At Hinkley Point C, we’re not just building nuclear reactors—we’re shaping the future of low-carbon energy. If you thrive in fast-paced environments, enjoy solving complex challenges, and want to make a real impact, this could be your next big move.
The Opportunity
At Hinkley Point C (HPC), we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new series of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.
As the Joint Design Office (JDO) Turnkey Engineering Manager, you’ll lead a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team tackling technical challenges across a wide range of systems—from turbine halls to diesel generators and refuelling machines.
You’ll be the key link between design, construction, and commissioning, ensuring that technical issues are resolved efficiently and safely.
This is a hybrid role based in Bridgwater, with a minimum of three days a week onsite. You’ll work closely with contractors and stakeholders, guiding design modifications and ensuring compliance in a highly regulated, high-stakes environment.
Pay, Benefits, and Culture
In addition to a salary of £75,000 depending on experience, we offer flexible benefits that support our employees’ physical, emotional, and financial wellbeing. Examples include: a market-leading company pension scheme, a bonus plan, health cover, electric vehicle leasing, mental health support, and employee discounts.
We promote an environment that supports collaboration, connection, and comfort, whether you’re in our office spaces, on site, or working remotely. Our priority is to make sure you feel safe, valued, and celebrated.
We’re committed to diversity and inclusion, aiming for an equal balance and broad representation of people from minority backgrounds, social mobility, and those with different abilities. We support reasonable adjustments for applicants, fostering a dynamic and innovative environment driven by diverse perspectives.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll be at the heart of the construction phase, ensuring your team is resourced and ready to meet evolving technical demands.
From managing consultants and contractors to overseeing Technical Leads, you’ll ensure everyone is aligned and delivering to the highest standards.
Your role involves resolving complex technical queries with a focus on safety, quality, and compliance. You’ll identify risks early, propose solutions, and drive continuous improvement to support effective decision-making.
As a visible leader, you’ll champion EDF’s Zero Harm policy and ensure all work complies with CDM regulations, contributing to a safe, efficient, and successful project.
Who You Are
You’re a degree-qualified Mechanical or Electrical Engineer (or hold equivalent experience) with a strong background in safety-critical industries—ideally nuclear.
You bring proven leadership experience, not just in managing teams, but in influencing stakeholders and driving strategic outcomes.
With deep technical knowledge and a solid grasp of design and engineering processes, you’re prepared to lead in a high-profile, high-impact role. If you’re seeking a challenge that matches your ambition, we’d love to hear from you.
Join us and help Britain achieve Net Zero.
