Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Locum General Practitioner to support our Enhanced Access service, delivering high-quality primary care to patients during Saturday clinics. This role is ideal for a GP looking to supplement their weekday commitments while contributing to improved patient access and continuity of care.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide safe, effective, and patient‑centred consultations (face‑to‑face, telephone, and/or video)
* Assess, diagnose, and manage a wide range of acute and chronic conditions
* Prescribe medications in accordance with best practice and national guidelines
* Manage clinical workload efficiently within allocated sessions
* Maintain accurate and contemporaneous clinical records using the practice’s clinical system
* Work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team
* Support continuity of care and appropriate follow‑up arrangements
* Adhere to safeguarding, infection control, and clinical governance standards
Enhanced Access Duties
* Deliver appointments as part of the Enhanced Access programme, improving availability outside core hours
* Manage pre‑booked and, where appropriate, same‑day appointments
* Provide urgent care within primary care scope
* Ensure appropriate signposting or escalation when required
Essential Requirements
* Fully qualified GP with current registration on the General Medical Council GP Register
* Inclusion on the NHS Performers List
* Valid licence to practise in the UK
* Up‑to‑date indemnity cover
* Excellent clinical, communication, and organisational skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable Criteria
* Previous experience in Enhanced Access or out‑of‑hours GP services
* Familiarity with EMIS, SystmOne, or other GP clinical systems
* Experience working in diverse or high‑demands primary care settings
