We are looking to welcome applications for Consultants in Geriatric Medicine to join our friendly, dynamic and enthusiastic team based at York Hospital. We are recruiting for a retirement and are keen to develop our services wider especially into surgical liaison.
Our department encompasses a number of specialist services, including Frailty Assessment and frailty SDEC, Specialist Hip Fracture and Orthopaedic Liaison, Parkinson’s Care, Dementia and Delirium unit, community rehabilitation and Hospital @Home.
The posts are offered as 10 programmed activities (PAs) over four days and currently include an on-call commitment of 1 in 12 for frailty medicine. We are open to discuss any specific or specialised job plans that candidates may desire, including flexible/less than full time working. Qualifications
Essential criteria
1. Hold a medical qualification registered with the GMC
2. Hold a license to practise with the General Medical Council
3. Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Geriatrics via CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview) - CESR or - European Community Rights (Within 6 months of completing a training programme recognised for the award of CCT or equivalent)
Desirable criteria
4. MD or equivalent Higher Degree or evidence of relevant research
5. Experience of teaching lay groups and paramedical staff
Mentoring and Teaching
Essential criteria
6. Experience of teaching undergraduate and post graduate trainees
7. Experience of undertaking audits and presenting their findings
Desirable criteria
8. Experience of supervising Specialist trainees
Clinical practice/ competence
Essential criteria
9. Ability to demonstrate clinical experience and skill in the specialty
10. Demonstrates a sound knowledge of clinical governance practice

11. Experience of working in or setting up a clinical service
