An exciting opportunity has arisen for Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse. We are seeking an enthusiastic, flexible, and well-motivated registered nurse with a strong commitment to nursing patients on our Grundisburgh Ward in Care of the Elderly.
You will be a key member of the ward nursing team to ensure high-quality care is delivered. You will be part of a multi-professional team and work across the Trust to facilitate patient flow and meet the standards set within the National Clinical Guidelines.
You Will Need To Have
* The ability to work autonomously
* An ability to make safe and quick clinical judgments in emergencies
* A desire to develop your clinical skills and knowledge related to elderly care, including complex conditions such as dementia and Parkinson's disease
* Experience in teaching, mentoring, and supporting other staff
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills
* Good organizational skills
* A proactive attitude to supporting the ward sister in maintaining high standards of care
You must be patient-focused, flexible, adaptable, and capable of lateral thinking.
Please note that you will be required to work shift patterns, including long days and weekends.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure safe, effective, and holistic patient care
* Assess, develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans in partnership with patients, carers, and consultants
* Coordinate ward activities and facilitate safe discharges
* Support staffing during out-of-hours periods
* Assist the ward sister with clinical audits and implement improvements
* Monitor patients' conditions and initiate appropriate actions
* Administer medications safely, including IV and cytotoxic drugs, following evidence-based guidelines
* Provide evidence-based care for indwelling central venous catheters
* Maintain accurate and timely patient records and data
* Communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and the multidisciplinary team
* Participate in patient and carer education, including health promotion related to endocrine conditions
* Safely operate clinical equipment relevant to your area
* Order investigations and blood tests within your scope of practice
* Undertake venepuncture, cannulation, and other specialist clinical skills as required
