We are seeking a skilled and experienced Technical Buyer to join our client’s team. In this role, you will play a key part in developing and maintaining a high-performing supply chain, ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality materials, components, and services. You will work closely with suppliers and internal teams—particularly Design Engineering—to support both new product development and existing product lines, ensuring alignment on specifications, quality, and continuity of supply. Key Responsibilities Develop and manage a robust supplier base for mechanical components, materials, and subcontract processes Monitor and improve supplier performance in terms of quality, cost, and delivery Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers Negotiate pricing and commercial terms to meet budget and business expectations Raise and manage purchase orders, ensuring all technical, quality, and commercial details are clearly defined Issue works orders for subcontracted processes Support New Product Development (NPD), including design-for-manufacturing input Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers Establish and manage long-term supplier agreements Essential Qualifications HND (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline Desirable Qualifications MCIPS (or willingness to work towards it) Mechanical or materials-related apprenticeship or technical qualification Skills & Knowledge Strong understanding of technical drawings to BS8888 standards Solid knowledge of materials and surface treatments, particularly metals Experience with ERP/MRP systems Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications Experience Background in mechanical components or machining engineering Aerospace industry experience or knowledge (preferred) Experience working within project teams and managing projects Familiarity with contractual terms and conditions (desirable) Personal Attributes Flexible and adaptable with strong problem-solving abilities Quick to learn and apply new knowledge Proactive and driven, with a tenacious approach Highly organised, with the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities This is a 16 week contract and would see you joining the team on a temporary basis, with an hourly rate of between £20 and £24 per hour Kingdom People is opertaing as a Recruitment Business
