The Role: As a Civil Parking Enforcement Officer, you will be responsible for patrolling car parks and streets in Cornwall, issuing Penalty Charge Notices to vehicles in breach of parking regulations. You will also support various community initiatives, including school patrols, stray dog services, and investigations of abandoned vehicles. This is a physically active role and a good level of physical fitness is needed. We have potential for a full time Cornwall role (preference for the Bodmin & St Austell area) but would also be interested in people Countywide that may prefer part time hours, particularly weekend and evening working. Key Responsibilities: Patrol & Enforcement: Carry out routine patrols, enforcing parking regulations and promoting compliance. Customer Engagement: Provide advice and support to the public, helping motorists understand parking policies. Issuing Notices: Investigate and issue Penalty Charge Notices when necessary, ensuring fair enforcement. Health & Safety Compliance: Use safety equipment correctly and support colleagues in incidents. Team Collaboration: Work closely with fellow officers and supervisors to maintain service consistency. Continuous Improvement: Actively participate in initiatives to enhance service quality and efficiency. Additional duties: Development to undertake machine maintenance, abandoned vehicle inspections and Environmental patrols. This is a public/customer-facing role, where the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies. This position will be subject to a basic criminal record disclosure check. The starting salary for this role is £26,597 (with Plusages for Sunday, Bank Holidays etc), rising to £28,565 after training. Working Pattern: Full-time (37 hours per week on a rota basis including weekends) Part-time (flexible hours, evenings, and weekends) We have potential for a full time Cornwall role (preference for the Bodmin & St Austell area) but would also be interested in people Countywide that may prefer part time hours, particularly weekend and evening working. What you’ll need to succeed: Essential Criteria: Relevant work experience. Full UK drivers licence (Or willingness to obtain one) Excellent communication and presentation skills. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Willingness to complete City and Guilds Level 2 On Street Parking Enforcement within the first 6 months. 5 GCSEs at Grade 5 or above (or equivalent experience). Desirable Criteria: Knowledge and experience of enforcement and parking legislation What you’ll get in return: Permanent positions with 37 hours per week on a rota basis.
