To support and drive our mission, we are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to work within our well‑integrated website team.
About the Role
As the Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining the charity’s digital platforms, from our main website to web‑based tools and applications that support our beneficiaries, funders, and staff. You will work closely with communications, data, and project teams to ensure our online presence is reliable, engaging, and inclusive.
You will design, build, and maintain user‑friendly web applications and websites aligned with the charity’s goals. This includes developing and maintaining APIs and integrations with third‑party systems, ensuring accessibility (WCAG 2.1 AA), security, and performance standards, and working collaboratively with non‑technical colleagues to translate needs into practical digital solutions. The role also involves maintaining in‑house software (PHP/MariaDB), managing hosting, deployment, and version control processes, troubleshooting and improving existing systems, contributing to digital transformation projects, and supporting the web team to meet departmental and strategic objectives.
