As a result, alongside several consortium partners, Balfour Beatty have been selected by bp (British Petroleum) to construct a first-of-a-kind fully integrated gas‑fired power station with carbon capture and storage, which is a key driving force behind plans to make Teesside the UK’s first decarbonised industrial cluster.
Balfour Beatty is seeking a dynamic Senior Engineering Surveyor to contribute to the Net Zero Teesside (NZT) project based at our site in Redcar and Cleveland.
What you'll be doing
Role purpose:
* To provide and maintain dimensional control and survey stations within the project;
* To facilitate communication between the survey and engineering teams;
* Liaise with client survey and design teams;
* Survey Data Management.
The successful candidate will have the following responsibilities:
* The security and integrity of project survey equipment;
* The sufficiency of survey equipment in conjunction with the Survey Manager;
* Ensuring that setting out survey data is to an acceptable standard;
* The quality of the setting out derived from survey data;
* The effective liaison with others to progress survey requirements;
* Ensuring that project specific survey procedures are followed;
* Managing setting out activities through proactive and reactive monitoring;
* Responsibility for providing monitoring data to the Survey Manager and performing corrective and preventive actions, as agreed;
* Management and control of the Survey and Setting out requests. Observe monitoring activity on site to ensure compliance with specification, BS standards and best practice;
* Proactively work to reduce standing time;
* Review operational compliance with Risk Assessment and Method Statements.
Who we're looking for
The following qualities/experience are essential:
* Civil Engineering, Engineering Survey, Tunnel Survey and/or an appropriate Surveying discipline qualification to HNC/Degree level;
* Have relevant professional Engineering Survey experience relevant to the type of tunnel operation being undertaken;
* Appropriate level of professional registration with a relevant professional body + record of CPD;
* Thorough knowledge of surveying procedures and working methods with a strong understanding of current surveying practices;
* Understanding of the construction environment for safe and buildable designs;
* Experience of working with a major design consultancy and major contractor;
* Highly organised with good management and coordination skills with a high standard of computer literacy;
* Leading teams, people management skills, effective delegation, mentoring & coaching and developing others;
* CSCS (Supervisor, Manager, AQP or PQP) card;
* SMSTS or similar;
* Tunnelling Safety Training Scheme accreditation (if not held, to be completed before regularly attending/working in Tunnelling Environment).
The following qualities/experience are desirable:
* Minimum 2 years’ relevant experience in Surveying;
* Use of NRG, SCC, StarNet TBC software is desirable;
* Knowledge and experience of CAD.
