Please note this position is for internal applications; only current Activate Learning Employees will be considered for this role.
About the role:
Do you want to make a meaningful impact on students’ lives while gaining valuable experience in a supportive residential setting? At Merrist Wood, we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Residential Warden to join our vibrant Accommodation Team. In this role, you will provide essential pastoral care, support student development, and help foster a positive and inclusive residential community.
As a Residential Warden, you will play a key role in encouraging independent living, ensuring robust safeguarding practices, and promoting respectful behaviours. You will also organise engaging enrichment activities, including supervised Study Club sessions, to support students' personal and academic growth.
You will be part of a supportive and collaborative team committed to creating a nurturing and empowering environment for all our students. If you are enthusiastic, empathetic, and eager to support learner success both in the classroom and in halls of residence, we encourage you to apply.
Working on a weekly rotation with three other Wardens, you will be on call during evenings 1 week in 4 and lead one enrichment activity evening per week. The Residential Warden role is a non-payment opportunity but in-return we offer accommodation in a fully functioning, self-contained flat in our stunning Merrist Wood College.
If this sounds like the opportunity for you, we’d love to hear from you!
What do you need to be successful as a Residential Warden at Activate Learning?
If you are dedicated, compassionate, and eager to support learner success in the classroom, on the field and in halls of residence, we'd welcome your application.
Successful candidates will place student wellbeing at the heart of their work, with a clear focus on safeguarding. Experience working with young people-either professionally or in a volunteer capacity-is essential. Safeguarding and first aid training will be provided if you do not already hold the relevant qualifications.
You should have experience developing and delivering social activities for learners, and have an awareness of agencies that work with young people that you may make referrals to if required.
This would a great fit along side another role in our Surrey Colleges.
