Role Description
In line with our Global strategy and purpose, we have an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Data Scientists to join our family of talented people in the Data Science team helping to shape and implement the target operating model for our business.
Our ambition is to transform the end-to-end experience and journey for our policyholders, intermediaries, internal users and other parties, through a combination of modernising core systems, data-led digital asset development and integrations (internal and external).

You will help build end-to-end machine learning solutions across the entire business that are essential to LV= GI’s ability to serve our millions of customers in a competitive manner. The team sit centrally within the business, working closely with different business areas to identify opportunities, develop solutions and drive the implementation of machine learning across the organisation with a focus on the delivery and realisation of benefits.
You will be involved in all aspects of machine learning projects, from liaising with business subject matter experts, to model building, evaluation, and deployment. You will also be involved in the development of new and innovative tools and techniques for use across the team through internal packages, innovation projects and university research partnerships.
Your focus:
1. Conceive, develop, deploy and monitor end-to-end machine learning solutions to support Company initiatives, working as part of a cross-functional team
2. Identify opportunities for innovation through analytics in the Organisation. Evaluate potential, scope projects, and define deliverables
3. Strongly contribute in agile teams, bringing the development skills for robust integration of AI products into technical systems
4. Ensure strong ethical underpinnings of all analytics solutions developed, driving good outcomes for customers
5. Measure and track impact of the products developed through business KPIs. Present result of analyses to business owners and share knowledge with team members
6. Acquisition and development of commercial skills and knowledge, learning from others in the direct team and the wider business
7. Support the simplification of processes so that business owners, in addition to data scientists, can leverage our data to drive business outcomes
8. Investigate new data and analytics technologies and contribute to the continual development and evolution of our data architecture
About you
To be successful for the role you will have a number of years’ experience working in a Data Science setting.
There are several of things we’ll be looking out for in the applications.
9. Hands-on knowledge of how machine learning models are deployed into an applied/business setting, with a curiosity to improve the whole model lifecycle; from inception through to production
10. A desire to be part of a highly-cooperative team who share risks, look to continuously upskill, and use software to explore an applied problem-space
11. Good command of Python and use of pertinent libraries for data analysis and machine learning, and working these effectively in a git based workflow
12. Excellent stakeholder management skills, including communication, management of expectation, recommendations, quality of outputs, and working accurately to tight deadlines
13. Numerate/STEM degree
14. Proactive work attitude
15. Curiosity about data and its ability to drive value in financial organisations
16. Proactive, problem solving attitude

Our Ways of Working
The role can be based across our sites in London, Bristol or Bournemouth. As the Senior Data Scientist, you’ll be working with the entire team across these offices. The Bristol office is part of our partnership with the University of Bristol.
