Team Manager (Derby Safe Haven)
Location: Derby
Working Hours: 37
Contract Type: Fixed Term
Salary: £35,520 - £51,060
Make a real difference in your community
We are seeking a motivated, compassionate, and resilient Team Manager to lead the Derby Safe Haven an out-of-hours, community-based service offering immediate emotional support to individuals experiencing mental health distress.
The Derby Safe Haven operates from 4:30pm to 12:30am, seven days per week, and the Team Manager must be able to work flexibly in line with service need and rota allocation. The role involves some weekend working as part of the management rota, along with occasional daytime shifts (09:00–17:00) to support partnership engagement, promote the service externally, and attend commissioner or multi-agency meetings that fall within standard office hours.
These working patterns are central to Safe Haven delivery and essential for providing strong, consistent leadership within an out-of-hours support environment.
As a Team Manager, you will be responsible for:
1. Providing day-to-day leadership, guidance, and supervision to the Safe Haven team.
2. Ensuring high-quality service delivery, safeguarding practice, and adherence to operational standards.
3. Building and maintaining strong partnerships with local mental health services, commissioners, voluntary-sector organisations, and other key stakeholders.
4. Overseeing rota management, staffing, and effective coordination of shifts.
5. Supporting the development, evaluation, and continuous improvement of the Safe Haven model.
6. Contributing to the promotion and external representation of the service, particularly through daytime engagement activities when required.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
7. Has proven experience in mental health, crisis support, community work, or a related field.
8. Demonstrates confident leadership skills and the ability to support staff working in emotionally demanding environments.
9. Is comfortable working during evenings and weekends, with an understanding of the unique rhythm of out-of-hours services.
10. Communicates effectively and builds positive, collaborative relationships.
11. Shows resilience, sound judgement, and a calm approach during times of distress or crisis.
12. Is committed to person-centred, trauma-informed, and recovery-focused practice.
Why Join Us?
13. The opportunity to lead a meaningful service at a critical time for individuals in crisis.
14. A supportive organisational culture with ongoing development opportunities.
15. The chance to shape and influence partnership working across the local mental health system.
16. Work that genuinely transforms lives within the Derby community.
