We are looking for a proactive and technically capable Systems Accountant to join our Finance team. This is a key role within NatCen, supporting the maintenance, development, and optimisation of our financial systems to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
You will act as the key contact for financial systems queries across the organisation, helping both finance and non-finance colleagues make best use of the tools available. With your strong systems knowledge and experience, you'll help streamline financial processes, support system upgrades or implementations, and contribute to continuous improvement across the finance function.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in the maintenance and development of financial systems to ensure accuracy and efficiency
* Be the 'go to' person across the business to answer queries regarding the financial system
* Maintain system documentation and update training materials for the business concerning ‘best use’ of the system.
* Support the finance team in the preparation of financial reports and analysis
* Collaborate with IT and finance departments to troubleshoot and resolve system issues
* Contribute to the improvement of financial reporting and data integrity
* Drive process automation and efficiency - Identify opportunities to streamline month-end, and other finance processes through systems automation.
* Support finance team with other financial duties as and when required.
* Monitor system performance and collaborate on future enhancements.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
* Ideally a part qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or QBE
* MS SQL experience
* Proven experience in implementing or upgrading ERP systems, systems such as Deltek Vision or Vantagepoint would be desirable.
* Deep understanding of financial software and accounting principles, processes and controls.
* Project accounting experience would be a definite advantage.
* Strong skills in change management, process improvement, and data migration.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
