The purpose of the role of a Senior Interior Designer is to create the design of future vehicle interiors, blending cutting-edge aesthetic concepts with functional engineering. This creative individual will be responsible for conceptualising and creating innovative and visually compelling interior designs of both Concept and Production vehicles. They will collaborate closely with multiple Design and Engineering teams to ensure that design ideas are not only artistic, but are also feasible and aligned with brand identity. By staying ahead of design trends and exploring advanced new technologies, the Senior Interior Designer will play a key role in shaping the future of Mclaren interiors. The successful candidate will prioritises time in the office/studio working alongside team. Typically, onsite 3+ days per week and travels to all locations to align with the business need.
What You'll Do
Generate Advanced Concepts and Production interior designs through sketches, digital renderings, and 3D models.
Interpret and evolve the brand's interior design language into exciting, innovative, and usable interior spaces.
Support design through all project phases — from early ideation through production.
Collaborate with clay modelers, CAS teams, and engineering departments to refine proportions, and define design themes.
Ensure aesthetic intent is maintained throughout the design process, integrating technical inputs while retaining design theme values and character.
Guide surfaces with modelling teams for production alignment.
Participate in design reviews, and digital/physical model evaluations.
Act as a subject matter expert on interior design
Constant collaboration with Design management and other Design departments, for optimised and efficient design progress.
Close collaboration with the Studio Engineering team to ensure that the interior design is not only aesthetically striking but also functional and manufacturable.

Advanced Sketching & Visualization: Exceptional freehand sketching and digital rendering skills to explore and communicate designs clearly.
Advanced 3D visualization skills in software such as VRED or Blender, plus exceptional Photoshop abilities to produce powerful presentation visuals.
3D Modelling Proficiency: Expertise in software such as Alias or Blender, for autonomously and rapidly creating and exploring concept themes. Blender or Alias SubD preferred.
Team communication: Consistent open communication with Interior Design team. Clear, considered design communications given to CAS and clay modelling teams to support efficient design development.
