Director (AVP) - Regulatory Policy : Glasgow Accounting and Regulatory Policy (Policy) is a global function within Finance which supports Morgan Stanley to achieve its business goals by providing independent advisory and review services in relation to matters of Accounting and Basel-based Regulation for a broad range of internal and external stakeholders. As a result of this focus, Policy plays a key role in client advisory activities and major Firm projects, helping to shape and influence the future strategy of the Firm. A Director (AVP/Manager equivalent) opportunity has arisen within the Glasgow Policy team, which operates as a shared service center of excellence for the global Policy function. Reporting to a Vice President, the role will specifically focus on Regulatory Policy, providing the opportunity to be at the forefront of developments in Prudential Regulation impacting the UK and beyond. What will you be doing? > You will be global process owner for Morgan Stanley Regulatory Policy Management, working with senior technical experts and stakeholders in the US and EMEA. > You will play a central role in managing the team's Global Regulatory Horizon Scanning process, including technical review of new publications and communication to management and key Firm stakeholders. > You will assume secretariat responsibilities for several of the Firms key Regulatory Interpretation Governance forums and committees, liaising with committee members and subject matter experts to produce high quality materials and minutes. > You will take on a lead role in the advancement of innovation and digital tooling capabilities for the team's regulatory policy process, including liaison with internal management and third-party providers. > You will act as a central liaison for the Glasgow team with key internal stakeholders on matters of regulatory and accounting policy, including Firm Management, Regulatory Controllers, Legal & Compliance, Risk, Treasury and Liquidity & Funding Controllers. > You will help train our internal stakeholders on technical matters, including key regulatory updates identified through the team's horizon scanning process. > You will develop SME knowledge on areas of Basel-based Regulation, have the opportunity to work alongside cross-functional teams on major Firm implementation projects and assist with the resolution of ad-hoc advisory queries from internal stakeholders. > You will assume line manager responsibilities for one direct report What we're looking for: > Strong communication skills, including ability to communicate technical material to various levels of experience/knowledge, both in written and verbal form. > Self-motivator with the ability to balance own priorities alongside supervision and coaching of direct report. > Knowledge of Basel-based Regulation and/or a keen desire to develop SME knowledge in areas of regulatory policy (e.g. Capital & Liquidity Reporting Rules). Skills that will help you in the role: > Qualified CA/CPA/ACCA or equivalent > The ability to work independently in a self-directed way in a collaborative, team-oriented environment. > The confidence to take ideas forward and to challenge others, where appropriate, with experience in management by influence, facilitating and gaining consensus. > Prior experience of working in a financial services environment.
