Neway International are seeking a Support Worker – Social Care Non‑Qualified to join our client based with Sefton MBC. Location: Trinity Road, Bootle, Merseyside, L20 3NJ Hours: 36 per week Start Date: 26 January 2026 Rate: PAYE £16.83 per hour / Limited/Umbrella £21.95 per hour About the Client Sefton MBC’s Children’s Social Care service is dedicated to improving outcomes for vulnerable children and young people. The service promotes safety, wellbeing, and resilience through child‑centred practice, partnership working, and a commitment to high‑quality support for families. The Role The Support Worker will contribute to the delivery of effective Children’s Social Care services by providing practical and social support to children, young people, and families. The role involves direct work in homes and the community, supporting care plans, recognising risk, and promoting positive outcomes. The postholder will work closely with Social Workers and partner agencies to safeguard children and empower families. Key Responsibilities Work with children and young people aged 0–25, contributing to assessments, care planning, and reviews. Undertake direct work with children, young people, and families in homes and community settings. Support Children in Need, Child Protection, and Looked After Children plans in line with agreed frameworks. Promote and supervise contact between children and their birth families, including transport support. Identify and assess levels of risk and need, reporting concerns through the appropriate management structure. Conduct home visits and welfare checks, ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed. Provide crisis intervention, including practical tasks and occasional overnight support to prevent accommodation. Assist Social Workers during Child Protection enquiries, including Section 47 processes. Signpost families to relevant services such as financial support, accommodation, and welfare rights. Contribute to work directed by the family courts. Support children and young people to participate in decisions affecting their lives. Promote wellbeing, resilience, and positive identity through understanding child development and emotional needs. Assist children and young people in moving and settling into new homes. Work independently or as part of a team, demonstrating inclusive practice and challenging discrimination. Collaborate with colleagues and partner agencies across statutory, voluntary, community, and faith sectors. Record accurate, high‑quality information on the council’s children’s database. Provide practical and administrative support to qualified Social Workers. Participate in supervision, performance reviews, team meetings, and learning opportunities. Candidate Requirements Experience supporting children, young people, and families within a social care or community setting. Understanding of safeguarding, risk identification, and child development. Ability to communicate confidently and effectively in a range of situations. Willingness to undertake home visits, welfare checks, and crisis support. Ability to work collaboratively with professionals and partner agencies. Strong organisational skills and commitment to accurate record‑keeping. Inclusive practice and respect for diversity. Flexibility to meet the needs of children and families, including occasional emergency support.
