1. Provide 1:1, face-to-face mentoring support
2. Support emotional regulation, confidence building and engagement
3. Use creative and relationship-led approaches to build trust
4. Encourage routine, resilience and readiness for learning
5. Work towards a gradual transition into tuition
About the Young Person
6. Requires SEMH-focused support
7. Benefits from a nurturing, patient and consistent approach
8. Has a strong passion for art – a shared interest in art or creativity would be highly beneficial in building engagement and rapport
The Ideal Candidate
9. Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs
10. Background as a mentor, teaching assistant, behaviour mentor, youth worker or similar
11. Calm, empathetic and resilient approach
12. Confident working independently
13. Creative interests, particularly in art, are highly desirable
