Overview
I require a kind, patient and professional PA to support my daughter who has a mild learning disability and Autism and who therefore needs support to access local leisure activities and have fun!
Responsibilities
* Support and prompt with personal care, including toileting, showering/bathing, getting in and out of bed, and getting dressed.
* Support and prompt the individual to access sporting and leisure activities.
* Assist and encourage socialisation and participation in activities.
* Promote and encourage friendships and independence.
* Develop a good and trusting one‑to‑one working relationship.
* Keep my daughter safe and help her improve her social awareness, correct behaviours in public and everyday dangers from traffic and strangers, and increase her confidence and capabilities, such as using public transport.
* Perform other duties as reasonably required, with variations from day to day.
* Report all accidents to the employer immediately.
* Report defects or hazards that may give rise to an accident.
* Ensure the safety of the individual at all times.
Qualifications & Key Qualities
* Be honest, reliable, trustworthy and punctual.
* Maintain confidentiality and respect privacy, including the prohibited use of social media in relation to the job role.
* Work on own initiative and follow instructions accurately.
* Be patient, supportive, caring and empathetic.
* Have good listening skills and provide non‑judgemental emotional support.
* Have a genuine interest in supporting people with a disability/illness to achieve their goals.
* Flexibility is an advantage as hours may be variable.
* Be self‑motivated with a willingness to get involved.
* A calm, confident person who is fully present and engaged, respects Christian faith and mirrors this in the support provided (whilst not necessarily sharing the faith).
Availability & Working Hours
* Hours per week: 6 hours per week, school holidays only.
* Specific days/times required: 1 weekday (flexible) + Saturday.
* Wednesday, 3 hours - between 10.00am - 6.00pm.
* Saturday, 3 hours - between 10.00 - 6.00pm.
* Dates and times are flexible and can be discussed at interview.
