Job Description: Do you have strong Microsoft SQL Server (2012 onwards) skills ?
Would you like to work for a leading financial services company who are enjoying a time of strong growth.?
You can be based from their Edinburgh or Glasgow office however they offer very flexible hybrid working.
You will be expected to have exposure to all aspects of database administration including installation / upgrade / patching, backup and recovery, performance tuning, security and data loads.
This role is a salaried 12 month fixed term contract (not a daily rate contract) with a strong chance of extension or going permanent.
Responsibilities include:
Install, configure and maintain SQL Server instances
Monitor system's health and performance
Ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security
Analyse, solve, and correct issues in real-time & provide suggestions for solutions
Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes
Assist developers with query tuning and schema refinement
Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours
Ensures adherence to standards through training and education.
Participates in project work as required, delivering tasks to agreed deadlines. Identifies and delivers operational enhancements as required.
Involvement in testing strategies
Skills should include:
Advanced knowledge of SQL Server 2012 onwards
Extensive experience installing, configuring and maintaining SQL Server instances
Able to optimise indexes, queries and DB structures
Capacity management and data archiving skills
High availability and disaster recovery solutions
Experience using DB management tools (SQL profiler, Extended Events)
Other database instances (Oracle)
