About the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lecturer in Horticulture with a specialism in soft and hard landscaping to join the Academy of Land and Environment. The successful candidate will play a key role within our well‑established horticulture department, delivering high‑quality technical and practical education to learners at Levels 2 and 3 and contributing to the continued development of our curriculum offer.
Key responsibilities:
Plan, develop and deliver academic and practical teaching and assessment across Level 2 and Level 3 City & Guilds Horticulture programmes.Lead and guide learners to achieve high levels of success through engaging, industry‑relevant teaching and assessment practices.Act as Course Manager for designated student groups, supporting retention, achievement and learner progression in line with College procedures.Implement quality assurance processes to ensure consistency, validity and high standards in teaching, learning and assessmentDevelop links with industry and external stakeholders to enhance curriculum relevance, employability outcomes and commercial opportunities.The successful candidate will:
Have significant and successful industry experience within horticulture, including demonstrable skills in soft and hard landscaping and machinery operation.Hold a Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) and relevant industry qualifications, with strong practical competence.Possess effective communication skills and the ability to engage and motivate learners, colleagues and external stakeholders.Be committed to delivering inspirational, high‑quality education and supporting continuous improvement within the department.Either hold a recognised teaching qualification or be willing to work towards one with College support.We can offer you:
