Job Description
The Environment Agency is looking for a Commercial Manager to support the Commercial Assurance and Framework Management Team. The role involves overseeing the commercial governance of contracts with key consultancies and contractors, developing pathfinder programmes, and ensuring value for money across our projects. You will also play a key part in incident response duties and contribute to the national team’s delivery objectives.
Responsibilities
* Support the team that governs commercial contracts with external consultants and contractors.
* Develop and manage pathfinder programmes to embed best practice and long‑term partnership arrangements.
* Champion effective governance and commercial assurance across Integrated Delivery Management teams.
* Build and maintain strong relationships internally and externally.
* Undertake training and participate in incident response duties when required.
Experience and Skills Required
* A‑Level qualifications or equivalent.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills.
* Stakeholder management experience.
* Strong data and document management abilities.
* Commercial acumen – ability to analyse business situations, take proportionate risks and deliver value for money.
* Administration skills – excellent organisation, minute taking and report drafting.
* Willingness to pursue professional qualifications such as NEC or CIPS.
* Interest in infrastructure, construction or environmental programmes.
Desired Education & Professional Requirements
* Degree or equivalent professional qualification.
* Working towards membership of a recognised professional body (ICE, CIWEM, APM, CIPS or RICS).
* Formal training in contract management (e.g. NEC, Contract Management Capability Programme).
