Assistant Operations Manager Live Events - SEC Glasgow, Full-Time / Permanent

ROLE PURPOSE
As part of the Live Events Operations team, you'll lead the delivery of all food and drink service across the venue during high-profile live events. From arena shows to large-scale productions, you'll manage teams across retail, hospitality, and premium areas — ensuring seamless planning, exceptional presentation, and service excellence every time.
You'll play a key role in delivering a best-in-class operation that evolves with the fast-paced, high-energy nature of live events.
Key Responsibilities
Operations
Build strong working relationships with the venue and event stakeholders.
Plan and deliver outstanding food and drink experiences for live audiences.
Lead, motivate, and support large event teams in a fast-moving environment.
Ensure all catering areas are fully prepared ahead of doors opening.
Maintain the highest standards of quality, safety, and hygiene.
Adapt quickly to last-minute changes typical of live productions.
Manage stock ordering, delivery schedules, and minimise wastage.
Drive revenue while maintaining control of costs and operational standards.
Proactively resolve operational challenges and manage customer feedback.
Finance
Maximise spend per head through strong planning and on-the-ground leadership.
Manage labour scheduling and control spend in line with forecasts.
Monitor performance and operating costs to meet financial targets.
Ensure compliance with company profit protection and security procedures.
People
Support recruitment, training, and performance management of event teams.
Build strong team morale and clear communication across all levels.
Deliver training to drive upselling, service standards, and operational excellence.
Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion in all areas of the operation.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential
Experience in a high-volume, multi-purpose live events venue.
Strong background in hospitality, retail, or premium event operations.
Experience leading large teams in fast-paced environments.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Strong IT and administrative capability.
Thorough understanding of Health & Safety and Food Safety compliance.
Flexible and adaptable approach to live event demands.
Desirable
Hospitality or management qualification (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
Experience working collaboratively with venue clients and delivering contractual requirements.
