Contract: Full-time, permanent Location: Ascot or Burton-on-Trent (hybrid) Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 per annum (depending on experience) About the Role NIRAS Group UK is looking for a motivated and technically proficient Electrical & Controls Engineer looking to take the next step and join our Electrical & Control team. This is a hybrid role, ideally based from or near to our Ascot office, and the position involves travel to client sites across the UK, supporting a wide range of engineering projects across multiple industries when required. Key Responsibilities: Assisting with tendering of projects and liaising with the sales team to ensure the electrical criteria can be met Management and planning of electrical/control/automation project tasks Liaising with site and project team for the duration of the installation and supporting the site manager during the installation period if any design questions should arise Ability to manage site activities to ensure the electrical installation is completed to programme Complete and issue electrical drawings to the documentation team on completion of the project Good fault finding and trouble shooting skills Ability to specify, technically and commercially appraise, recommend, select, and source various control panel components Ability to design and specify control systems utilising Ethernet, Profinet, Profibus, ASI networks & 4-20mA technologies Experience with instrumentation applications including but not limited to Flow, Level, Pressure, Temperature, Weight Systems & Analytical Onsite commissioning and I/O testing experience including but not limited to valve and instrumentation setup and parameter selection, and setup of variable speed drives Support the electrical & control engineering design and delivery of projects, ensuring technical standards and project milestones are met Prepare and maintain accurate electrical documentation and drawings Liaise with customers, site teams, and suppliers to ensure successful project delivery Assist in panel testing, FAT, and technical evaluation of components Contribute to the development of project documentation including URS, engineering schedules, and commissioning reports Writing specifications for panel, instrumentation & installations Writing specifications for control systems Management of electrical element of any assigned project inclusive of suppliers and contractors Ensuring as built documentation is completed by suppliers and issued to clients What We're Looking For: HNC or Level 4 qualification (or higher) in Electrical Engineering or a related subject Minimum 2 years’ experience in Electrical/Instrumentation Engineering Excellent organisational, communication, and documentation skills Strong working knowledge of MS Office and AutoCAD Understanding of industrial networks such as Ethernet, Profinet, Profibus, Willingness to travel and work away from home when required Knowledge of control systems (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell) is advantageous (PLC & SCADA) Good Knowledge of technical writing Previous experience in the food & beverage, packaging, or utilities industries is desirable but not essential Experience of technical pre-sales and technical quotation writing (not essential) Clean UK driving licence What We Offer: Competitive salary (£40,000 - £45,000 based on experience) Hybrid working with flexibility Pension contributions Company-wide training and professional development opportunities Supportive and collaborative engineering team environment About NIRAS: NIRAS is a forward-thinking, multi-disciplinary engineering and environmental consultancy committed to sustainable progress and exceptional service delivery.
