Central Recruitment is working with an organisation that provides supported housing and living services to vulnerable adults suffering from mental health conditions and homelessness.
Our client is currently recruiting for a Support Worker to work in the South East London area at a service that provides support to individuals with complex and multiple needs, including mental health and substance misuse.
* 45 hours per week
* Monday - Sunday (rota basis)
* Shifts: 8AM - 6PM, there is a requirement to work every other weekend
* Temporary: approx. 2-3 months
* £16.59 per hour (£14.80 per hour, with £1.79 holiday pay)
This is an excellent opportunity to support adults with complex needs on their pathway to independence.
Key responsibilities:
* Hold a caseload of key clients and develop agreed, person-centred support plans
* Support and encourage residents to engage in social, educational, and leisure activities
* Assist and encourage residents to maintain their rooms in a clean and safe condition
* Monitor and supervise the health and wellbeing of residents at agreed intervals
* Monitor concordance of prescribed medication and alert care providers of any concerns and report any changes or relapse indicators
* Work in close partnership with external agencies and update them of changes in resident wellbeing
* Carry out regular wellbeing checks and ensure only authorised persons enter the building
* Ensure that any emergencies/incidents are dealt with in line with policies and procedures
* Understand the legislation and guidance relating to the health and welfare of residents
* Participate in a duty rota that meets the needs of the service
What we’re looking for:
* Experience supporting residents with mental health needs
* Knowledge and understanding of issues related to alcohol and substance abuse
* Experience working in a supported housing setting
* Experience compiling SMART action plans and the ability to compile comprehensive risk assessments
* Experience using appropriate techniques to work with challenging behaviours
* Knowledge of health and social care legislation
* Ability to apply the principals of adult safeguarding and protection of vulnerable adults
* Understanding of welfare benefits
* Ability to identify residents' strengths and address problem behaviours
* IT skills necessary to compile correspondence and reports
Desirable: Ability to cook when required
Further requirements:
In order to register with Central Recruitment Services for temporary agency work, candidates must meet the following criteria:
* Current valid right to work in the UK
* Minimum 12 months’ of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years* (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise)
* A fully enhanced DBS either registered on the DBS update service or issued within the last 12 months, or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £60)
* Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process
