This role offers the opportunity to design mechanical and thermal components for space propulsion subsystems and equipment within a multidisciplinary team.
Responsibilities
* Generate the mechanical and thermal designs of parts and assemblies required for space project propulsion sub‑systems and equipment.
* Prepare and update subsystem CAD models, manage drawing activities and ensure alignment with project milestones (PDR, CDR, QR, etc.).
* Perform design trade‑off activities and document design solutions.
* Manage the product tree structure using the appropriate PLM tool (e.g., ENOVIA).
* Ensure interface management with other spacecraft modules, structures and equipment.
* Produce 2‑D drawings, BOMs, manufacturing and assembly files, and analysis input files.
* Assess new suppliers, materials and manufacturing techniques for spacecraft mechanical and thermal engineering.
* Check designs for completeness, tolerance build‑ups and assembly/integration sequences.
* Support project reviews and generate required documentation.
Key Performance Indicators
* Deliver design solutions and documentation within project schedules and resource constraints.
* Meet project milestones and maintain high documentation quality.
Qualifications
* Good general knowledge of mechanical design and conception.
* Working knowledge and experience of 3‑D CAD software (CATIA preferred) and ENOVIA.
* Knowledge of relevant drawing standards (e.g., BS 8888) and geometric tolerancing best practice.
* Understanding of manufacturing techniques and how they influence design and drawings.
* Experience in a multi‑discipline team environment and with customer, partner, supplier interfaces.
* Experience in the space domain is advantageous.
