We are looking for a Controls Engineer to join us at our Southall site in West London. The successful candidate will be highly skilled, motivated, focused on continuous improvement, and responsible for delivering first-class maintenance support to the factory.
The role
* Display a clear shop floor focus – spend 95% of time on the shop floor building relationships with production and seeking issues before they arise.
* Ensure all reactive and proactive maintenance is completed ‘Right First Time’ (RFT), in a timely manner, following quality and HSE guidelines.
* Mechanical skills include understanding power transmission systems, product manufacturing, transport systems, and assisting in in-house fabrication works (milling, welding, etc.).
* Electrical skills include fault finding of electrical systems up to PLC level, with Siemens S7 experience preferred. Ability to understand electrical diagrams is essential.
* Fault finding and programming of robotics including Kuka and Fanuc systems.
* If a fix is not possible, raise work orders and hand over the temporary fix to the next shift and engineering manager.
* Participate actively in lean initiatives including TPM.
* Maintain a continuous improvement mindset to enhance plant performance and reliability.
* Ensure full compliance with all engineering data systems.
* Demonstrate root cause analysis skills and a solid fault-finding process on electrical and mechanical systems.
* Work independently, making calculated decisions based on analysis.
* Work flexible hours to meet production and business needs.
* Support training of new staff.
* Organize contractors, ensuring health & safety requirements are fully met in line with projects.
Formation / Compétences :
* Strong engineering background with thorough knowledge of Control, Automation, and Safety Systems and equipment.
* Relevant qualification (degree/HND) or comparable industrial experience.
* Experience in:
* Design of control & automation systems.
* Programming of PLC, HMI & SCADA systems.
* Commissioning, testing, and client support of industrial control systems.
* Involvement throughout project lifecycle, from design to documentation.
* High competence with IT systems and tools.
* Experience with Siemens TIA Portal / Unified (preferred).
* Experience with Rockwell platforms.
* Experience configuring & commissioning Variable Speed Drives (Siemens).
