Are you a qualified English teacher who loves helping students find their voice, build confidence, and engage with literature in meaningful ways?
We’re supporting a rapidly improving secondary school in the Fareham and Gosport area seeking a dedicated English specialist to join their thriving department from January 2026.
This opportunity can be offered on a temporary, fixed-term (one year), or permanent basis for the right person. The school is open to full-time or part-time applications and can offer reduced hours where needed.
We pay all staff to scale, based on your experience. For example, M6 = £232 per day.
The Role
• Teach English across KS3 and support some KS4 groups
• Plan and deliver engaging lessons that build key reading, writing and analytical skills
• Contribute to curriculum development and share effective teaching approaches
• Support students of all abilities, helping them grow in confidence and independence

• Non-specialists with strong knowledge of the English curriculum
• Teachers without KS4 experience - please still apply
This is a large, well-resourced department with lots of experience, shared planning and day to day support. You will be joining a stable team with approachable colleagues who help new staff settle in quickly.

Requirements
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Ability to teach English at KS3 (KS4 experience is desirable but not essential)
• Strong subject knowledge and a passion for English
• A commitment to high-quality teaching and positive relationships
