Specialist 1:2:1 Learning Support Assistant

The Role:
Seeking a dedicated and skilled Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to support an individual learner with complex Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Type 1 diabetes. This role involves working closely with the student throughout the school day.
About Us:
A co-educational, fully comprehensive 11-16 Academy. Opened to Year 7 students in September 2019, it is highly regarded in the community and oversubscribed.
Working Hours:
37 hours per week
39 weeks per year (term time plus non-pupil days)
Key Responsibilities:
Gain understanding of the learner's individual needs and implement provision effectively
Support teaching staff and the SENDCo in monitoring the learner's progress
Provide consistent support for the learner, including managing Type 1 diabetes as per Individual Health Care Plans (IHCP)
Maintain clear records to monitor medical needs outlined in the IHCP
Communicate effectively with colleagues and contribute to progress meetings
Promote positive behavior and foster independent learning skills
Requirements:
Recent experience working with children in an educational setting
NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification
Experience supporting students with complex medical needs (including T1 diabetes) or willingness to undergo training
Knowledge and experience working with learners with Autism and other neurodiverse conditions
Transferrable skills from other sectors will be considered
