About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician to support engineering and maintenance operations in Aycliffe. You will play a key role in ensuring equipment reliability, minimising downtime, and maintaining safe and efficient production processes.
This role requires strong mechanical and electrical capabilities, a proactive approach to troubleshooting, and the ability to work effectively within a rotating shift team.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure equipment and facility systems operate safely and reliably
Reduce downtime through effective preventive and corrective maintenance
Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and technical faults efficiently
Attend machine breakdowns and perform planned maintenance tasks
Support continuous improvement of equipment performance and reliability
Maintain compliance with all safety, operational, and quality standards
Provide clear documentation of maintenance activities
Skills & Experience Required
Technical Skills
Strong mechanical repair and troubleshooting expertise
Electrical systems knowledge (motors, sensors, circuits)
Preventive and corrective maintenance experience
PLC basics and understanding of control systems
Ability to investigate and resolve complex technical issues
Personal Competencies
Excellent problem-solving skills
Strong safety awareness and adherence to procedures
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Good communication and documentation skills
Preferred Background
Experience attending machine breakdowns
Hands‑on experience with planned and reactive maintenance in an industrial setting
Education / Qualifications
NVQ Level 3 or ONC (or equivalent qualification in Engineering / Maintenance)
