We are currently recruiting for a dedicated SEMH Support Worker to join a secure children’s unit in Leeds, supporting young people with complex emotional, behavioural, and social needs. About the Role
As an SEMH Support worker, you will work as part of a supportive residential care team providing high-quality care, structure, and emotional support to young people within a secure setting. Many of the young people have experienced trauma and require consistent, nurturing relationships alongside clear boundaries and guidance.
You will play a key role in helping young people develop life skills, emotional regulation, and positive routines within a safe and structured environment.
Key Responsibilities
Supporting young people with daily routines, education engagement, and wellbeing
Building positive, professional relationships based on trust and consistency
Promoting emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
Contributing to care plans and risk management strategies
Maintaining accurate records and supporting safeguarding procedures
Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and external professionals
Shift Pattern
This is a full-time permanent position working on a rota basis including:
Early shifts and late shifts
Weekend working as required
Flexibility is essential due to the nature of residential care.
What We’re Looking For
Experience working with young people or vulnerable individuals (residential care, youth work, SEMH, or similar settings desirable)
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Resilience and ability to remain calm in challenging situations
A caring, empathetic, and professional approach
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting young people’s welfare
