Main Purpose of the Role & Responsibilities in the Business
As a Senior Platform Engineer (Senior Associate) in Kainos, you’ll be responsible for leading the design of significant components of a modern digital service platform, including its automation, build, deployment, and support. It’s a fast-paced environment, and you’ll be trusted to make sound, reasoned decisions.
You’ll do this whilst learning about new technologies and approaches, with talented colleagues that will help you to learn, develop, and grow.
Your Key Responsibilities Will Include
* Working as part of a team - collaborating with colleagues in engineering, testing, consulting, product management, and security to build, test, and deploy high-quality software.

Minimum (Essential) Requirements
* Strong team skills, including experience working in multidisciplinary teams.
* Good communication skills, both written and verbal, capable of conveying technical issues to varied audiences.
* Expertise in multiple configuration management, infrastructure provisioning, and automation tools.
* Fluency in at least one scripting or programming language (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python, Ruby, Go, Groovy).
* Experience designing, building, testing, automating, monitoring, and supporting components within a modern digital service platform in production.
* Knowledge of scalable, resilient, secure, and cost-effective design principles.
* Experience with modern Continuous Delivery practices and industry best practices across infrastructure and application components.
* Proficiency with public cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
* Familiarity with configuration management, infrastructure provisioning, container orchestration, and version control systems like Git.
* Ability to troubleshoot complex problems across servers, services, and tools.
Desirable
* Third-level qualification or equivalent in a related discipline.
* Mid-level certifications with AWS or Azure.
* Active participation in knowledge sharing within and outside the team.
* Experience with cloud-native SaaS and PaaS technologies.
* Experience in managing, mentoring, and coaching junior staff.
