At Overton School, we believe every young person deserves an education that unlocks their potential and celebrates their individuality. We are looking for an ambitious and passionate Assistant Headteacher – SENDCO & SEND Services to join our Senior Leadership Team and play a key role in shaping the future of our specialist provision.

This is more than a SEND leadership role — it’s an opportunity to influence whole-school strategy, drive innovation, champion inclusion and create lasting impact for pupils with diverse and complex needs.

If you’re a dynamic leader who is passionate about making a difference, this could be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for.

As Assistant Headteacher – SENDCO & SEND Services, you’ll lead the strategic development and delivery of SEND provision across the school, ensuring every pupil receives exceptional support and access to high-quality education.

Working closely with the Headteacher, Senior Leadership Team, pastoral teams and external professionals, you’ll lead on assessment, EHCP processes, interventions and inclusive practice — creating a culture where pupils feel understood, supported and empowered to succeed.

You’ll play a vital role in shaping school improvement, developing staff expertise and ensuring outstanding outcomes for every learner.

What you will be doing

1. Lead and develop whole-school SEND provision and inclusive practice
2. Act as an active and influential member of the Senior Leadership Team
3. Deliver staff training and support high-quality teaching and differentiation
4. Contribute to school improvement, quality assurance and strategic planning
5. Oversee SEND assessments, pupil progress tracking and reviews
6. Ensure EHCPs, IEPs and pupil documentation are accurate, effective and compliant
7. Lead annual reviews, PEP meetings and multi-agency collaboration
8. Monitor interventions, transition plans and access arrangements
9. Build strong partnerships with families, therapists and external agencies
10. Promote wellbeing, inclusion and a safe, supportive learning environment for all pupils

We Are Looking For Someone Who

11. Qualified with NASENCO, PGCE/BEd or equivalent
12. Experienced in teaching within specialist SEND settings
13. Experienced in Senior Leadership or aspiring to further leadership responsibility
14. Knowledgeable in EHCP processes, SEND legislation and safeguarding practice
15. An inspiring leader with excellent organisational and communication skills
16. Passionate about inclusive education and improving outcomes for young people
17. Collaborative, proactive and solution-focused
18. In possession of a full UK driving licence
