Psychology Lead – Autism & ADHD Services (Part-Time, 2-3 Days/Week)

Location: The Cambridge ADHD & Autism Centre, Stow-cum-Quy, CB25 9AU

Reports to: Director / Practice Manager

Contract Type: Part-time (0.4 - 0.6 WTE)


About the Clinic

The Cambridge ADHD & Autism Centre is a private mental health clinic specialising in support for neurodivergent people of all ages. Our multidisciplinary team provides high-quality psychological assessment, diagnosis, and therapy for Autism, ADHD, and co-occurring mental health difficulties. We are seeking an experienced psychologist with strong expertise in neurodevelopmental conditions to lead and develop our psychology service.



Position Summary

The Psychology Lead for CamADHD will provide clinical leadership, professional supervision, and strategic oversight for psychologists working on behalf of CamADHD. The role will include service development, governance, and a small clinical caseload.



Key Responsibilities


Clinical Leadership & Governance

* Lead the delivery and further development of evidence-based and neuroaffirming psychological services for our Autistic and ADHD clients.
* Ensure clinical practice aligns with HCPC standards, BPS guidelines, NICE guidance, and internal governance procedures.
* Implement quality assurance processes, risk management, and service improvement initiatives.
* Oversee and update protocols for neurodevelopmental assessments, therapeutic interventions, and multidisciplinary working.

Supervision & Staff Development

* Provide clinical supervision and case consultation for psychologists (including trainee and assistant psychologists).
* Support staff to develop skills in neuroaffirming practice, behavioural formulation, functional assessment, and evidence-based intervention.
* Deliver staff training and contribute to team CPD programmes.
* Facilitate regular case discussion meetings focusing on Autism/ADHD presentations and complex co-occurring needs.

Service Development

* Identify service gaps and work within the multidisciplinary team to help develop group interventions (e.g., emotional regulation, executive functioning, social understanding, parenting support).
* Strengthen assessment pathways and contribute to integrated care models with other clinicians (e.g., Psychiatry, Paediatrics, SEND, OT, Speech and Language Therapy).
* Support the recruitment, induction, and professional development of psychology staff.
* Contribute to strategic planning, service growth, and client pathway optimisation.

Clinical Work

* Hold a small clinical caseload appropriate to expertise (children, adolescents, and/or adults).
* Conduct neurodevelopmental assessments using gold standard tools (e.g., ADOS-2, ADI-R, QB Check).
* Provide evidence-based psychological interventions (e.g., CBT, ACT, DBT skills, psychoeducation, parent/carer support) tailored for neurodivergent clients.
* Produce high-quality assessment reports and clinical documentation in line with regulatory standards.

Collaboration & Communication

* Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues, schools, local authorities, GPs, psychiatrists, and community services.
* Contribute to a supportive, reflective, and inclusive team culture.
* Participate in leadership meetings and support clinic-wide decision making.



Qualifications & Experience


Essential:

* Registered Clinical Psychologist with the HCPC (Practitioner Psychologist).
* Post-qualification experience working with Autism and ADHD across relevant age groups.
* Strong understanding of neuroaffirming practice and co-occurring mental health presentations.
* Experience supervising junior psychologists or other mental health professionals.
* Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
* Training and experience in specialist neurodevelopmental assessment tools (e.g., ADOS-2, ADI-R).


Desirable:

* Chartered membership of the British Psychological Society (BPS).
* Experience in private practice, community neurodevelopmental services, or multidisciplinary teams.
* Additional training in specialist modalities relevant to neurodivergent clients.

Hours & Compensation

* 2-3 days per week (working days negotiable).
