The Music Co-Regulator Support Worker role sits within a wider team of key Support Workers engaged by the Creative Professional.
The Creative Professional, who has decades of experience as a vocalist, performer and writer, is currently experiencing a period of ill-health. They are taking a break from work in the short term in order to get some much needed rest and recovery time, away from the constraints and tensions of work. The Creative Professional and their support team are looking for somebody who can facilitate gentle musical co-regulation sessions to support nervous system recovery through shared sound.
The Music Co-Regulator Support Worker will:
* Attend weekly sessions in-person for gentle musical improvisation and co-regulation.
* Create a safe, nurturing sonic environment that supports nervous system regulation and healing.
* Improvise softly with voice and/or instrument, creatively responding intuitively to the Creative Professional’s nervous system state, and needs in the moment.
* Understand and work with nervous system principles, recognising signs of activation, regulation, and the need for gentle attunement.
* Hold space for non-verbal communication and somatic experiencing through shared musical expression.
* Adapt musical offerings in real-time based on the Creative Professional’s responses and nervous system feedback.
* Support the Creative Professional’s creative recovery journey through gentle, trauma-informed musical interaction.
* Communicate sensitively with other team members about session observations when appropriate and with consent.
* Give the Creative Professional a musical buffer from the world, creating space where healing through sound can happen.
* With a small but supportive team, the Creative Professional is keen to cultivate a harmonious, inclusive, kind and enthusiastic team to support the day-to-day, as well as ongoing creative practice.
Rest and recovery through nervous system regulation is key right now. We feel that this role is essential in supporting the Creative Professional to achieve this through the healing power of gentle, shared musical experience.
The Music Co-Regulator Support Worker will be expected to bring a keyboard along to sessions. If you have a small drum which can be brought along, that’s also a plus, but not essential. The Creative Professional owns a ukulele, so it would also be ideal if you can play the guitar/ukulele, though you needn’t bring this to sessions. If you have the skills and experience required for this post, but do not have access to the instruments, please still consider applying.
