Job Description
Due to the continued growth of our Environmental Arboriculture and Forestry Team in our Basingstoke or Leeds office, we are seeking an Apprentice Arboricultural Consultant for an immediate start with a view to enrolling with a training provider in September 2026. The training provider is Myerscough College University, offering a Level 6 Professional Arboriculturist course (primarily online with one week of college attendance).

Projects
Our team delivers Arboriculture and Forestry assessments for projects of all scales, from individual tree assessments to national infrastructure projects. Recent work includes BS5837 surveys in Cork, forestry assessments in the Scottish Highlands, tree condition and BNG surveys in Manchester, technical advice for projects in the Middle East, and veteran tree assessments in a heritage parkland in London.
Responsibilities
* Undertake tree surveys for planning purposes and to assess tree condition.
* Prepare arboriculture reports to BS 5837:2012, Arboriculture Impact Assessments (AIA) and Arboriculture Method Statements (AMS).
* Prepare Tree Condition Reports.
* Collaborate with other arboriculture and environmental professionals in the planning, delivery, and management of services.
* Embed health and safety issues in project delivery from the outset.

Apprentice Development Programme
* Complete the Environmental Practitioner Degree – Professional Arboriculturist (Level 6) apprenticeship training course.
* Attend instructor‑led training sessions and interactive activities that build knowledge and skills.
* Support to achieve professional development ambitions, including Chartership and membership of the Arboricultural Association or ICF Chartered status.
Qualifications
* Minimum Level 3 Arboriculture qualification.
* Minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade ‘C/4’ or above, including Mathematics and English.
* 48 UCAS tariff points from approved qualifications (e.g., A‑levels, BTEC, Scottish Highers).
* Hardworking, enthusiastic, creative, practical, adaptable, self‑motivated, organized.
* Commitment to continued education and on‑the‑job learning.
* Excellent report‑writing skills with MS Word and MS Excel proficiency.
* Methodical thinking and ability to design, plan, and organise project parts.
* Research and interpret information from multiple sources.
* Good people skills and a collaborative team approach.
* Proficient in English with excellent verbal and written communication.
* Professional, organized, thorough approach with an eye for detail.
* IT skills including Microsoft Office.
* Interest in pursuing a career in Arboriculture and Forestry.
* Willingness and ability to travel; a full driving licence is essential.
* Knowledge of UK legislation, best practice, and policy relating to arboriculture (preferable but not essential).
