Vehicle & Plant Technician / Mechanic (19/695) Castle Douglas £Vehicle & Plant Mechanic Abercromby Workshop, Abercromby Depot, Castle Douglas, DG7 1LH Hours: 36 hours per week, with optional overtime Pay: Time and a half for regular overtime, double time for unsociable hours Dumfries and Galloway Council is seeking a skilled Vehicle & Plant Mechanic to support its vehicle maintenance operations at our Abercromby workshop in Castle Douglas. You'll be part of a professional, well-organised team working in a modern, fully equipped facility. 35 days of annual leave (rising to 40 days after 5 years of service) Local Government Pension Scheme Personal Training Plan tailored to your development IRTEC accreditation in HGV and PSV maintenance All Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and uniform provided Career progression opportunities within our Transport structure Your Role You ll be responsible for maintaining the Council s wide-ranging fleet, which includes: Small plant equipment HGVs and buses Minibuses, vans, and cars Tasks will include scheduled servicing, preventative maintenance, test preparation, and repairs in line with Transport and Health & Safety legislation. There is also potential to train as a Class IV, V, and VII MOT tester.
