Job Title: Senior Gardener
Job Summary:
The Senior Gardener is responsible for overseeing the business' projects and gardeners. The senior gardener is responsible for monitoring and managing garden work provided by the business to private and public customers.
Key Responsibilities:
* Gardening tasks such as mowing, strimming, hedge trimming, weeding and more
* Provide guidance and sharing knowledge with gardeners and volunteers on the best practise with gardening tasks
* Directing gardeners to the work required and monitoring the standard of work provided to our customers
* Attention to detail and an eye for garden aesthetics and design is essential
* Assessing plant health and managing the application of fertilizers, pesticides, or herbicides when necessary.
* Liaising with customers to ascertain their garden's needs and provide estimates as required, whilst maintaining the highest possible customer service
* Oversee the maintenance of gardening tools and machinery (e.g., mowers, trimmers, blowers) and ensure H&S standards are adhered to through daily practise
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Strong physical fitness and stamina to perform manual outdoor work is essential
* A deep understanding of plant care, curation and propagation is essential
* Ability to induct, lead, mentor and manage the team and support gardeners to meet requirements and deadlines is essential
* Excellent communication skills to liaise with existing and potential customers, gardeners, volunteers and the business owner is essential
* Ability to use IT to complete admin tasks, work scheduling and adhere to budgets is essential
* Ensuring gardeners and volunteers follow the business' Safe Systems of Work and H&S Policy at all times is essential
* Experience using and maintaining gardening tools and machinery is essential
Preferred Qualifications:
· NPTC Level 2 Award in the Safe Use of Pesticides is desirable
· Any other gardening qualifications are desirable
· Full UK driving license is desirable
Working Conditions:
* Fixed term contract of 37 weeks lasting until 27th November 2026, 7.5 hours per day, 5 days a week
* Lunch break 30 minutes unpaid
* In adverse weather or unforeseen circumstances, the ability to change working days and times in agreement with business owner is essential. This can be the case if jobs must be rescheduled and / or cancelled.
* Will involve lifting heavy materials, bending, kneeling, and standing for long periods.
Pay:
Bloomin' Braw will pay £15 / hour
