We're on a journey to build a workforce reflective of our Borough.
We are committed to fostering diverse teams where everybody can bring their authentic selves to work and feel that they belong. If you want to work for a Council where everybody is encouraged to meet their full potential and make a difference in our neighbourhoods, we would love to hear from you!
Your role:
You’ll be responsible for dealing with and responding to a full range of Be Well enquires, with a specific focus on supporting the delivery of Children’s Activity Programmes.
This will predominantly but not exclusively support the delivery of the national award-winning Holiday Activity & Food (HAF) programme, a government funded programme aimed at providing healthy meals and enriching activities to children from low-income families, benefiting their health, wellbeing and learning. In doing so, you’ll support the Boroughs Children’s Activity Co-ordinator, in offering a front-line service to families, professionals and stakeholders and providing a high-quality administration, within a fast-paced environment.
About you:
We are looking for someone who is ambitious, highly organised, and who is passionate and committed in supporting vulnerable children to access and benefit from the opportunities that every child has a right to access across the Wigan Borough.
You need to have experience in supporting health and wellbeing programmes, changing lives and communities, providing administrative support and the ability to use booking processes that are in place across the Be Well Customer Service team.
You need to be efficient in providing high quality service, that is delivered in line with internal and external expectations and strict deadlines.
About us:
Wigan Council has been voted ‘Overall Council of the Year’ at the APSE (Association for Public Service Excellence) Awards. We are signed up to the Greater Manchester Continuous Service Commitment ensuring that your service will be continuous or 'unbroken' between the supporting organisations.
The Progress with Unity plan is a place movement for change for the next decade, bringing a new era for Wigan Borough. It draws on the strengths of our individual organisations, recognising that together we can achieve much more for our communities by delivering on our 2 place missions; create fair opportunities for all children, families, residents and businesses and make our towns and neighbourhoods flourish for those who live and work in them.
It is an exciting time to be joining the Be Well team and being part of the award-winning Holiday Activity and Food Project Team, as we start to jointly work across the partnerships with services, providers and key stakeholders to deliver inclusive outstanding activities for all vulnerable children.
The team are all passionate and committed, in supporting vulnerable children, to access opportunities that support their wellbeing, therefore you’ll have opportunities to be innovative with ideas, be involved with joint decision making and play a key role in ensuring that every child in the Wigan Borough has access to opportunities.
You will also gain valuable knowledge, insights and experiences to enhance your professional and personal development.
Here at Wigan, we are proud to support flexible working patterns, when the service can accommodate this. We also take a blended approach to where we work, depending on the work we do. This may include working from home, the office, or the community. We like to thank our employees for their hard work and commitment by giving them the opportunity to access a range of exclusive rewards and benefits click here to find out more about working for #TeamWigan.
