Job Summary
We are excited to announce that we are looking for an experienced full‑time Band 4 Medical Secretary Supervisor to work in the Gastroenterology department at Good Hope Hospital for 37.5 hours a week. You will be working with an established team of medical secretaries.
Main Duties, Tasks & Skills Required
• Audio typing of clinics via Dragon dictation system (excellent audio typist required).
* Diary management, clinic cancellations and setting up extra clinics.
* Monitoring results and providing the consultants with weekly results lists.
* Managing rotas and reorganising clinics due to ward weeks, on‑call, annual and study leave.
* Covering other secretaries’ phones when on leave using a buddy system.
* Good communication skills; phones are very busy.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Good general education, e.g. GCSE English and Maths (A‑C) Level 9‑4.
* Business Administration NVQ level 3 or equivalent experience in a clerical environment.
* AMSPAR Certificate or equivalent or knowledge of medical terminology.
* Working knowledge of medical terminology.
Experience
* Experience working as a Medical Secretary.
* Experience dealing with public/customer service.
* Experience with Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel, Outlook).
* Experience using IT systems; experience working in healthcare.
* Good organisational skills.
* Ability to use own initiative and deal with the unpredictable.
* Ability to work under pressure, multitask and meet deadlines.
Desirable
* Experience working in a busy environment.
* Ability to work under pressure and deal with stressful situations.

Salary £27,485.00 to £30,162.00 yearly
Contract & Working Pattern
Permanent, Full‑time, Flexible working – 37.5 hours per week, core working hours Monday‑Friday.
