Account Manager – Water Hygiene / Building Services Equipment Location: London & South East (with some wider UK account coverage) Salary: £45,000 – £53,000 basic (DOE) car allowance commission healthcare pension performance & profit-related bonuses Employment Type: Permanent, Full-time Overview An established and highly respected provider within the water hygiene, compliance and building services sector is seeking an experienced Account Manager to join its growing Equipment Sales team. This is a key role focused on managing and developing relationships within the M&E consultant and contractor market, driving technical specifications and converting them into secured orders. The position offers a strong mix of account management, business development and project-based sales, ideal for someone with a solid understanding of water hygiene legislation, Legionella control measures, and water treatment solutions (chemical and non-chemical). The Role You will be responsible for managing an existing portfolio of M&E consultant accounts while identifying and developing new relationships. Working closely with consultants, contractors and internal technical teams, you will manage specified projects through to site, negotiating orders with M&E contractors and ensuring successful delivery. The role is predominantly focused on London and the South East, though some wider UK account management may be required. Strong communication skills, commercial awareness and the ability to deliver an excellent customer experience are essential. Key Responsibilities Manage and grow an established M&E consultant client base Develop and execute a targeted strategy to win new consultant-led business Achieve technical specifications for water hygiene and treatment equipment and convert these into secured orders Build strong relationships with key decision-makers including Public Health Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Project Managers and Buyers Attend client meetings and present technical solutions aligned to compliance and water hygiene requirements Prepare and deliver sales proposals and presentations Negotiate contracts and close deals while maintaining profitability Manage specified projects through to site and contractor order placement Provide market and competitor feedback to senior management Stay up to date with relevant legislation and guidance (e.g. ACOP L8, HSG 274, HTM 04-01) Collaborate closely with internal teams including Technical, Operations, Engineers and Accounts Represent the business professionally at all times and comply with company policies and procedures Skills, Experience & Qualifications Minimum of 5 years’ experience in account management or business development Proven success in technical sales and specification-led selling, ideally within the construction or building services sector Strong understanding of water hygiene, Legionella control and compliance-driven solutions (desirable) Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills Confident working independently while collaborating with internal teams Experience using CRM systems to manage pipelines and customer activity Full, clean UK driving licence Person Profile Highly motivated, driven and results-focused Customer-centric with a strong commitment to service excellence Professional, trustworthy and respectful in all interactions Comfortable working under pressure and managing multiple priorities Strong organisational and time-management skills Flexible, proactive and willing to go the extra mile to meet customer needs Ideally located within commuting distance of the office (circa 50 miles), though flexibility may be considered What’s on Offer Competitive basic salary (£45k–£53k DOE) Car allowance Commission and performance-related bonuses Healthcare and pension scheme 22 days holiday bank holidays Employee-owned business with additional benefits Laptop and mobile phone provided Free parking Full training and structured onboarding Clear opportunities for long-term career progression Immediate start available
