We are recruiting for an Infrastructure Platform Engineer (On-Prem) Consultant for a permanent, on-site role.
Requirements
* Specialized in on-premise management of platforms, applications, data, and infrastructure as a system administrator.
* Develop automation for continuous delivery using suitable technologies.
* Configure infrastructure as a service to automate creation of hosting environments.
* Build and set up new development tools and infrastructure.
* Understand stakeholder needs and communicate effectively with developers.
* Automate and improve development and release processes.
* Test and analyze code written by others.
* Ensure systems are secure against cybersecurity threats, familiar with NCSC principles.
* Manage security aspects of on-prem platforms, including secrets, tokens, and certificates.
* Collaborate with architects, data, and software engineers to ensure proper development processes.
* Plan projects and participate in project management decisions.
* Design, secure, and maintain on-prem infrastructure.
* Make informed decisions, explain reasoning, and resolve technical disputes.
* Communicate complex technical information clearly to non-technical audiences.
* Understand data exposure, linking, and streaming services.
* Assess and document deployment risks.
Ideal Candidates will demonstrate:
* Experience working with cybersecurity teams is beneficial.
* Strong infrastructure design experience for on-prem environments.
* Knowledge across various technologies, ability to assess and innovate within constraints.
* Experience in software change/release management and technical governance.
* Experience with containerization (Kubernetes, Docker), provisioning tools (Ansible, Terraform), and performance monitoring.
* Experience with testing, automated deployment, and understanding of government digital standards.
* Knowledge of SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, and their implications.
* Ability to train, support, and mentor others.
* Experience managing live systems, incident resolution, and working within multidisciplinary teams.
* Experience with Terraform, automation tools, application monitoring, and deployment pipelines like Trivvy and SonarQube.
This role requires or involves obtaining Security Clearance, including completing a Baseline Personnel Security Standard check during onboarding. Details are available on the government website.
