Salary: £35,000–£40,000 + Bonus
Hours: Monday–Thursday, 07:00–17:00 (with some flexibility)
Benefits: 258.5 hours holiday (incl. stats & shutdown), pension, on‑site parking
Location: On‑site within a busy fabrication workshop (client anonymised)
The Opportunity
A thriving engineering & fabrication business is seeking a driven, hands‑on Works Manager to lead day‑to‑day workshop operations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being on the tools when needed, while also taking ownership of planning, workflow, standards, and communication between the shopfloor and management team.
You’ll be a key link in ensuring productivity, quality and safe, organised working practices across a busy steel/aluminium fabrication environment.
What You’ll Do
Act as a strong communication link between management and the workshop team
Organise, coordinate, and prioritise daily and weekly workloads
Ensure good workshop practices and company policies are consistently followed
Carry out inspections and maintain high quality standards
Fabricate and weld from drawings where required (hands‑on support)
Drive efficiency, problem‑solve and support continuous improvement
Oversee general workshop activity and contribute to a positive team cultureWhat You’ll Need
Strong background in steel and/or aluminium fabrication
Ability to weld and fabricate to engineering drawings when required
