About the Role
In 2024, Surrey County Council launched the Intensive Family Support Service to provide early help for families with interconnected needs.
Our vision is that more families should receive timely support to prevent escalation and statutory intervention. We aim to ensure that families have consistent relationships with their Practitioner and are not 'passed around' multiple providers.
Family Intervention Workers work alongside Social Workers, contributing to assessments and engaging with families at the earliest opportunity. This approach helps us bring help more quickly to families in need.
Typical Responsibilities
* Supporting families through a strengths-based, trauma-informed approach, including meetings, home visits, school visits, and group work
* Coordinating support services and professionals to form an effective Team Around the Family
* Maintaining positive contact and managing relationships with families and partners
* Contributing to Child and Family assessments
Candidate Criteria
The application process includes 4 questions about your experience and understanding of the role, plus uploading your CV. No personal statement is required.
To be shortlisted, your CV and answers should demonstrate:
* Understanding of legislation and issues related to supporting vulnerable children and families, or willingness to learn
* Ability to manage a caseload and prioritize tasks
* Ability to write clear and accurate reports
* Effective communication and relationship-building skills
* Ability to work flexibly as part of a team
