We are looking for an energetic, responsible Supervisor / Assistant Manager to help lead our brand-new SPAR team in Liverpool City Centre. You will be the right hand to the Store Manager, ensuring our customers receive a 5-star experience and our operations run like clockwork.
This is a "lead by example" role. You will perform all the core duties of a Store Assistant including serving customers, stocking shelves, and maintaining a clean shop, while taking on the added responsibility of running the shift, managing the team, and overseeing store security.
What You'll Be Doing (In Addition to Core Assistant Tasks):
* Team Leadership: Act as the Duty Manager in the absence of the Store Manager. You'll motivate the team, assign tasks, and ensure everyone is productive and happy.
* Operational Excellence: Manage store opening and closing procedures, including alarm systems and secure keyholding.
* Financial Accountability: Oversee "Cashing Up" at the end of shifts, managing float discrepancies, and ensuring secure cash handling protocols are followed.
* Inventory & Ordering: Support the manager with stock orders, managing deliveries (checking invoices against physical stock), and reducing "shrinkage" (waste/theft).
* Compliance Lead: Act as the "Challenge 25" champion for your shift, ensuring all tobacco and alcohol sales are handled legally and staff are following safety protocols.
* Problem Solving: Handle escalated customer queries and technical issues with the POS or PayPoint systems with a calm, professional head.
What We're Looking For:
* Experience: Previous experience in a supervisory or "Step-Up" role within retail or hospitality (Convenience retail experience is a major plus).
* Responsibility: You are someone who can be trusted with the keys to the business. You are punctual, honest, and proactive.
* Communication: You can give clear instructions to a team and provide a professional handover to the next shift lead.
* Adaptability: You're comfortable jumping from the till to the stockroom to a coaching moment with a colleague without missing a beat.
* Flexibility: Availability for "Open" and "Close" shifts, including weekends.

Pay: From £13.51 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
