The role
As an SLD Crane Operator, you’ll be integral to heavy-lift operations that keep our naval assets mission-ready. This is a hands-on role where precision and safety are paramount. You’ll contribute to projects that support national defence and infrastructure, making a real difference to the UK’s security. Day-to-day, you’ll have the following responsibilities:
1. Operating and maintaining SLD and EOT cranes in line with approved lift plans and safety regulations.
2. Setting up, operating, and de-rigging cranes according to SOPs and safety protocols.
3. Supporting vessel berthing and slipping evolutions, including heavy-lift and ancillary tasks.
4. Assisting with planned maintenance and defect rectification to meet KPIs.
5. Performing maintenance routines on cranes in accordance with approved schedules.
This is a full-time, permanent position, based onsite at HMNB Clyde.
Essential experience of the Multi Skilled Operative – Crane Operator:
6. Knowledge and experience of slinging operations.
7. Previous experience in heavy-lift or similar environments.
8. Ability to follow strict safety standards and procedures.
9. Strong teamwork and communication skills.
10. Adaptability to varied operational tasks.
Qualifications for the Multi Skilled Operative – Crane Operator:
11. Full UK driving licence.
