And if you don't like what you ordered, at the tap of a button we'll send someone to pick it up.
To orchestrate this complex ballet, Relay relies on a wide range of technologies, from advanced routing and planning to sophisticated user experiences that guide our team members on the ground.
About the role
We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Financial Controller to establish and lead our core finance operations. You will play a critical role in overseeing all financial activities, with a strong emphasis on treasury management, working capital optimisation, and finance systems implementation to support scalable growth.

As the Financial Controller at Relay, you can expect to have the following responsibilities
* Treasury Management:
o Manage day-to-day cash flow, banking relationships, and liquidity planning.
o Develop short- and long-term cash forecasts and financing strategies to support company growth.
* Working Capital Optimisation:
o Lead initiatives to improve receivables, payables, and inventory cycles.
o Design and implement working capital KPIs and reporting frameworks.
* Systems Implementation:
o Select, implement, and optimise financial systems (ERP, TMS, billing, etc.).
o Build scalable processes for accounting, reporting, and operational finance.
* Financial Operations:
o Own monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes.
o Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
o Manage external relationships with key financial institutions
* Strategic Finance Support:
o Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and strategic decision-making.
o Provide real-time financial insights to drive operational and commercial outcomes.
* Team Development:
o Build and mentor a small, high-performing finance team as we scale.
We are looking for candidates who have
* 6+ years' experience in finance and accounting, ideally with a mix of startup and established company backgrounds.
* Experience in a Series A-C high-growth environment, preferably logistics, supply chain, or tech sectors.
* Deep expertise in treasury, cash flow forecasting, and working capital management.
* Track record of implementing and scaling financial systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, QuickBooks, Xero).
* Strong technical accounting knowledge (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent preferred but not required).
* Hands-on, proactive, and solutions-driven approach - comfortable operating with ambiguity and building from scratch.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
