Draughtsperson – Mechanical Design
Location: High Wycombe
Copello is working with a defence client seeking a Draughtsperson to join their Mechanical Design team. The team is responsible for designing, developing, and supporting aerospace products for military and civilian applications.
This role suits an organized, proactive, and self-motivated individual with a methodical approach to maintaining engineering product design documentation.
The role involves supporting the legacy and development of current and next-generation products using 3D CAD (SolidWorks) and 2D CAD (AutoCAD).
Key Responsibilities:
* Modify new and existing products using 3D CAD (SolidWorks) & 2D (AutoCAD).
* Check, author, and implement (CR/CO) design changes, specifications, and data related to product build standards.
* Evaluate the impact of changes on the product considering cost (UPC) and maintenance requirements.
* Ensure changes (CR/CO) conform to performance specifications.
* Perform basic tolerance analysis of design changes, understanding inspection metrology methods, GD&T, and standard tolerance methods.
* Collaborate with engineers and departments to implement changes.
* Assist in investigating product failures.
* Support manufacturing processes.
* Produce and modify detailed drawings for component manufacture and assembly, including piece parts, assemblies, family trees, installation drawings, and data sheets.
* Manage parts lists and BOMs.
Qualifications:
* Degree, HNC/HND, or OND/ONC in Mechanical Engineering or similar (experience considered).
* Experience in a mechanical design office is beneficial.
* Experience in highly regulated industries (Aerospace, Defence, Medical, Nuclear) is beneficial.
* Experience implementing mechanical design solutions through the Life Cycle Management process.
* This role can be suitable for a first placement or a seasoned draftsperson.
