School Nursing Team – Community Staff Nurse (Band 5)
Location: South Team Hawick, Selkirk & Jedburgh
We have 2 vacancies for a motivated and enthusiastic Staff Nurse at 22.2 hours per week. The successful candidate will work within the School Nursing Team, liaising with AHPS, Paediatric Department, Education colleagues, Social Work, CAMHS and third sector partners.
* Provide comprehensive nursing care to school‑aged children and their families.
* Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement health plans.
* Support and promote the Scottish National Practice Model, “Getting it Right for Every Child.”
* Contribute to the development of the School Nurse pathway within the Scottish Borders.
* Conduct routine health assessments, screenings and vaccinations.
* Maintain accurate health records and report to relevant authorities.
Key strengths and experience required:
* Adult Nursing: Band 5 level with clinical experience in paediatric or community settings.
* Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team‑based approach.
* Good time‑management and prioritisation abilities.
* Experience working with children, young people and families – or transferable skills in a similar role.
* A willingness to learn the School Nurse pathway and engage in continuous professional development.
