Key Responsibilities: Support areas of our price setting cost assessment, contribute to the further development of our strategic approach for asset health and risk resilience, annual monitoring teams for the RIIO price controls, including analysis of company performance against expenditure and output targets we set. Understand and manage large amounts of company performance data. Engage with network companies on their submissions and participate in direct discussions to help understand of the factors influencing company performance or company requests for funding. Liaise with network companies (e.g. via sector working groups) on a regular basis to help refine and develop our approach to monitoring and cost assessment. Provide support and assistance to the preparation of oral and written briefings to senior staff members and committees on key issues. Working closely with policy, finance, engineering and legal colleagues to understand company submissions and resolve issues. Support effective project management to ensure delivery of your work. Contribute to draft consultation and decision documents. Respond to changing priorities and helping manage organisational risk, by being flexible, providing analytical support to new workstreams across sector price controls if required. Key Outputs and Deliverables Produce analysis to assess the performance of the network companies against RIIO-2/RIIO-3 targets and obligations. Develop and maintain models for cost assessment of company data, including adapting existing models in accordance with best practice and policy developments. Review model input data for quality. Develop data repositories and methods of provisioning data. Assist in the processes for monitoring and reporting of company performance within the RIIO-2 price control framework (including outputs and uncertainty mechanisms). Assist in the production of external annual reports that summarise and communicate the results of our assessment. Support the annual process to refine and develop our approach to enhance our data collection and reporting templates, including consulting with key stakeholders. Person specification Essential Criteria Excellent analytical skills, both quantitative and qualitative, with demonstrated ability to think critically, validate and analyse complex data, and to challenge and sense check results. (Lead Criteria) Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to communicate technical information clearly and concisely and to work collaboratively to solve problems. (Lead Criteria) Strong writing skills with demonstrable application of those skills to support policy development, consultation, decision-making processes and implementation. Strong project management skills to successfully deliver a programme of work in challenging timescales. Support, or lead, on the development of robust analysis that contributes to creating a range of options and making recommendations to senior management. Confident with Excel to manage large datasets and to present analysis in appropriate and clear formats.
