Job Summary

Applicants are invited to apply for a one-year fixed term role (with likely extension), as Obstetric Lead for the South West Maternal Medicine Network. The role would suit an applicant with a CCT in obstetrics.

The role attracts 1PA and commences in April 2026 for 1 year initially.

We will be reviewing all SWMNN Network lead roles in November 2026, so there will likely be opportunity to continue with this role beyond November 2026.

Main duties of the job

oLeading and participating in MDT meetings

Demonstrating leadership within the SWMMN
Participation in morbidity and mortality meetings
Attendance at rapid review meetings for maternal deaths that are referred to the SWMMN

oLiaising with SWMMN obstetric, medical, anaesthetic, midwifery and governance leads about governance and educational activities

Qualifications

CCT (or equivalent)
Maintain Full registration with the GMC.

Desirable

Higher academic qualification (e.g. MD or MS).

Recent experience and familiarity of UK hospital systems and practices (or equivalent).

Evidence of recent CME/ reasonable training progression at this stage of career.
