Senior Solicitor – Commercial Contracts
We are recruiting two Senior Solicitor posts in the Commercial Contracts Department of the Central Legal Office (CLO), National Services Scotland (NSS).
About the Organisation
National Services Scotland (NSS) is an NHS Board that provides strategic and operational support across NHS Scotland. The CLO delivers legal services to NHS Scotland bodies and operates a team‑based structure covering Litigation, Employment, Commercial Contracts and Commercial Property.
Responsibilities
* Advise NHS Scotland bodies on public procurement and commercial contract matters.
* Lead on procurement projects of varying size and complexity.
* Provide general commercial contract advice to clients.
* Manage own workload and engage with clients at varying levels of seniority.
* Collaborate within the CLO to deliver cost‑effective services.
Qualifications
* Qualified solicitor with significant post‑qualified experience.
* Experience advising on public procurement and commercial contracts.
* Ability to manage workload and work with diverse clients.
* Required to undergo a Disclosure Scotland check. Overseas background checks may be required if the applicant has lived or worked abroad for more than 12 months within the preceding 5 years.
* Resident in the UK and willing to live within the UK.
Location and Working Pattern
Base: Gyle Square, Edinburgh. The role operates a hybrid working model; attendance at the office is required for departmental meetings once per month and as necessary for project negotiations, training and other face‑to‑face interactions. The work pattern is Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week.
